Straight answer first: you cannot buy a mention in ChatGPT and there is no form to submit your site. AI assistants quote sources they can retrieve, understand and trust, and every one of those three is something you can influence, none of them something anyone can guarantee.
Where AI answers get their sources
When ChatGPT answers with sources it runs a web search and reads the results, so pages that rank well for the question are the pool it picks from. Google's AI Overviews work from Google's ordinary index. The overlap with classic SEO is nearly total: pages that are easy to find and quick to answer the question are the ones that get quoted.
What you can influence
- Answer the question at the top. A page that spends four paragraphs warming up is hard to quote. State the answer in the first two sentences, then elaborate.
- Structure like questions. Headings phrased as real questions give an assistant clean pieces to lift.
- Concrete facts with dates. Numbers, prices and years are quotable. Vague marketing text is not.
- Be unambiguous about who you are. The same company description on your site, Google Business Profile and social pages makes it much less likely an AI confuses you with someone else.
- Let the crawlers in. GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot and friends respect robots.txt. Blocking them removes you from the pool. We cover the details in the AI citation guide.
- Keep pages current. The same decay that costs rankings costs citations. A guide with last year's prices stops being a safe source. Here is how decay works.
What nobody can promise
There is no guaranteed placement, and there is no honest live tracker of where you appear inside AI answers: they vary by user, session and day. Anyone selling "guaranteed AI visibility" is selling smoke. What can honestly be done is a readiness check: is each page structured, direct and factual enough to be quotable.
