Readability test

Paste a text and it is measured in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Paste at least twenty words and I will measure. Below that the numbers are just noise.

What the number means

LIX counts two things: how many words your sentences hold, and what share of the words run longer than six characters. The sum is one number. Under 40 is easy, past 50 it starts to hurt.

The measure is Swedish, which is why it is used here. English measures count syllables, which misreads languages where compound words are ordinary rather than a sign of difficult text.

The average often hides the problem. A text can average well and still contain three sentences nobody can follow. That is why the longest ones are listed beside it, since usually only those need rewriting.

This tool reads one text at a time. Tedrix reads your whole site every week, finds the pages getting fewer visitors, and rewrites them.
