The best AI SEO tools for small businesses in 2026

An honest list, including the cases where you should not pick us.

Disclosure: we make Tedrix, one of the tools on this list. That is exactly why every claim below is dated and checkable, and why we point out where the others are better. Check the prices yourself before you buy anything.

"AI SEO tool" now covers three completely different products: tools that tell you what to do, tools that write new articles for you, and tools that fix the pages you already have. Most disappointment comes from buying one and expecting another. Here is the honest map, checked on 30 July 2026.

1. Tools that tell you what to do

Surfer (from about €49/month) is the industry standard for content scoring, and its Content Audit connects to Search Console and genuinely flags declining pages. Semrush (from about $139/month) is the full professional suite: brilliant, enormous, and far more than a small business needs. Both are excellent, and both hand the work back to you.

Pick these if SEO is part of your job and you enjoy the craft. Skip them if what you want is for the work to be done.

2. Tools that write new articles on autopilot

BabyLoveGrowth (about $99/month), Outrank (about $99/month) and Sweden's own Ranqo (199 kr/month, articles written in Swedish and auto-published to WordPress) all do the same core thing: produce a stream of new AI articles and publish them for you.

This works when you genuinely have no content and need volume fast. Two honest caveats: Google's scaled-content policy explicitly targets mass-published unreviewed AI content, and independent reviewers of these tools report needing 25 to 35 minutes of editing per article in technical niches. Volume is not the same as visibility.

3. Tools that fix the pages you already have

The smallest and most interesting category. Frase ($39–49/month) monitors published pages and drafts the fix when one slips. AYSA (from €29/month) connects Search Console, detects pages needing a refresh and applies approved changes through a WordPress plugin. Tedrix (from 249 kr/month, ours) runs the same loop in Swedish, writes in your own tone from a memory bank, and lets you choose the level: watch only, approve each fix, or full autopilot with undo.

Frase and AYSA are good tools. If you work in English and want the deepest content research, Frase is the stronger buy. Where we differ is language, tone matching, and the fact that you pick how much we're allowed to do.

4. The Swedish alternatives

Hasty SEO (free tier, then 199–399 kr/month, Västerås) is well built and the closest Swedish tool to ours, focused on AI-answer visibility with automatic fixes and rollback. Topster (free scan, 599 kr/month) analyses your site but does not fix anything. Kaistone (190–1,590 kr/month, Uppsala) is an AEO audit tool built for agencies. Seoella (€199/month) implements on-page changes through a JavaScript snippet.

How to actually choose

  1. Do you have content that used to work? Then you need a refresh tool, not an article factory.
  2. Do you want to keep control? Check whether the tool has an approval step at all — most autopilots do not.
  3. How are changes applied? Real CMS publishing survives; JavaScript-injected changes are invisible to AI assistants, which do not run scripts.
  4. What does the trial cost? Several tools require a card for a three-day trial and charge automatically. Prefer no-card starts.
  5. Is there a lock-in period? A month-to-month tool has to keep earning your money.

When not to pick Tedrix

  • You have no content at all yet — you need pages written first, and an article tool serves you better.
  • You are fighting for position one in a brutal market — that needs an agency and link building, not a tool.
  • You want a live tracker of exactly where you appear inside AI answers — we run a readiness check, not multi-engine live tracking.
If your site does have pages that used to bring in visitors, start by seeing which ones are slipping. Free, no card. Run the free audit, or read the detailed side-by-side comparisons.

Tedrix connects to your Google Search Console, finds the pages quietly losing traffic, and drafts one on-brand refresh for you to approve. Nothing is ever auto-published.
